Peter was a disciple of Jesus who loved his Lord, but failed him totally when he denied knowing him at the fire on the night when Jesus was betrayed. Jesus comes to restore Peter in love, and with a restored call to “feed his sheep”. Jesus comes to disciples like Peter, and to you and me who also know what it is to deny Jesus by our words and actions. Jesus meets us where we are, too, with his restorative and new-life love.
